Well presented, all working as intended and most importantly great fun, 1935 Austin 10 Lichfield, smart interior, ready to admire and enjoy and you won’t need a re-mortgage to buy it.
The car has been enjoyed for many years attending shows, vintage runs and even weddings, its brought home a few trophies as well over the years. Used regularly by the last keeper, it’s an older restoration with a full pictural history of the extensive works carried out, its been well maintained with further recent works to the brakes and king pin’s having been completed.
Its in great running order, starts very easily, it does everything it should do, just as clean and tidy underneath as it is on top. You can’t drive it down the road without a grin on your face, a smile every mile guaranteed, goes really well and easily keeps up with modern traffic, no untoward bangs, clangs or rattles as you travel, gears select easily, has a whine on first gear as expected of the year and design, travels along at speed with no problems or noises, brakes will lock up if pushed hard, excellent handbrake, all the lights work including the original trafficators.
During the body off restoration, some years ago, a lot time and money was invested, seats re-covered, new mats, door cards, head lining, carpets, new floor panels, full chassis and body repaint. Engine completely stripped and rebuilt, all these works are shown in the picture folder. We have the current modern log book and it’s still on its original 1935 correct number plate as issued new.
Has two handy modern upgrades, both completed without compromising the dash or any originality, as well as working “pop out” trafficators the side lights are wired to flash like indicators, very useful in todays traffic. Also hidden away in front of the radiator and behind the grill is an electric cooling fan, useful in heavy traffic, not something they had in 1935.
Very simple to drive, same layout and gear pattern as a modern car, just turn the key and press the start button (just like a modern car and they think the start button is a new idea). Its not a huge car but yet has a surprising amount of space when inside, the rear suicide doors making for easy access, even in a wedding dress I’m informed.
It presents well, the blue hand painted pinstripes around the cabin and along the bonnet matching the wheels and inner door tops bringing a fun element to its charming looks, it will be admired wherever you go, paint finish is suited to the car, it’s not immaculate, has a little age it does have a deep shine you can see your reflection in and close inspection will find the odd blemish and imperfection, it’s generally smart and mechanical good but it’s not concours, you can drive this to a show waving back at folk along the way without worrying about it getting dusty or wet.
The purist will happily point out a few grammatically flaws in its originality, show me anything 85 years old that’s exactly as it was on its first day, but we are not selling a museum exhibit, we are selling a drivable, former trophy winning and great fun vintage motor for the new owner to enjoy, anyone worried that a hose clip is in the wrong way round look elsewhere please.

VIEWING / COLLECTIONS
STAY HOME & STAY SAFE. Under the current restrictions traveling to view or collect this none essential item would be a breach of the rules, but we have no authority to enforce that legislation, only to discourage it. We have provided two videos of this car, one a moving, driving, walk round and the other 40 high quality pictures, we will happily take further pics or videos at your request. We can complete a telephone walk round appraisal and happily take the car to be inspected by a local qualified mechanic at the buyer’s request (an MOT station) and are also offering free national delivery at the asking price.
