We are delighted to present for sale this early Series 3 Land Rover® Lightweight, finished in NATO Green.
Externally, there are lots of period features one hopes to see on a ‘good’ lightweight – the bonnet mounted spare, bridging plate, front and rear bumperettes, vintage plates and recent canvas but to name a few of them. The vehicle sits on a set of our 750 military tyres, which not only give a positive and strong stance, but also have superb off-road performance, whilst maintaining on-road capability. They are also self cleaning, which is particularly useful. Defender mirrors are fitted for additional visibility for the driver.
The interior is largely standard, with a set of recent standard seats fitted, with deluxe matting to the footwells. The fire extinguisher is still fitted in the passenger footwell, which is a nice touch. The heater with front demist also survives which is handy for those winter mornings, and for warming the cabin from cold. The rear is unfitted, with the exception of a rear load mat, but could house bench seats for £295 which would bring seated capacity to 7 occupants including the driver.
Out on the road, this lightweight drives just as it should, and gives a pleasing period driving experience – aided by the larger rubber which gives lower cruising revs and better top speed. The engine is very quiet on this petrol, and also gives a lovely raspy exhaust note when you do press on, which is somewhat addictive!
In summary, if you are seeking a good looking,, no-frills, well-priced lightweight then this could be for you. With classic insurance and MOT & Tax Exemption, it should prove cost-effective to run, whilst being an appreciating investment for the future.
