Opis
One of only a handful of the remaining Wood and Pickett 6 wheel Range Rover Classics. Due to other projects and lack of space I am reluctantly selling this very unusual classic Range Rover. Please read the description carefully.
Bought in late 2019 as a project to finish off it has sadly languished at the bottom of the ‘to do’ list and its size means can’t live in a lock-up garage to be stored for later enjoyment. Please note; it is not 6 wheel drive, the third axle is not driven as this was an option the original owner chose not to tick when it was ordered. It was converted from new in 1982 by Wood and Pickett.
The car was last on the road in 1996 and underwent a partial restoration and respray around 2016, which is photographically recorded and looks to have been a strip down to bare metal. The chassis looks to have been well sorted along with the mechanicals. At some point an Edelbrock carburettor has been fitted and I have had it running using a gravity fed fuel supply, although it probably needs a new fuel pump.
Make no mistake, this is project vehicle. Known items that are needed to finish off include:
Roof lining and boot area trim
Gas Rams for the boot (which Wood and Pickett converted to a single unit) are weak and either need replacing or re-charging, plus boot catches are needed.
Rear bumper and rear body to chassis mounts are needed.
There is blown filler on the roof and bonnet, so these panels will need to be re-sprayed. The rest of the paintwork is in good condition though.
The front footwell area needs either a little bit of welding or the panels replaced.
The handbrake is not currently connected.
On the plus side:
It comes complete with the original Wood Pickett headlight grill and foot plates, which have been powder coated. The foot plates are fitted, the headlight grill is not currently.
Last year it was treated to a set of 6 new Goodyear tyres as the originals had become cracked. It also had a new set of wheel studs and all the wheel nuts have been replaced with the original Wolfrace ones.
Some work has been done on the wiring over the last few months to replace damaged or corroded sections, but more may be needed as it is recommissioned.
The car has an interesting history and there is a folder of documentation including a photographic record of the restoration in 2016, most of its MOTs, plenty of bills for maintenance and the original PDI documents from Wood and Pickett.
Obviously Covid restrictions make life difficult at the moment but I can arrange Covid safe delivery anywhere in the UK for £2 a mile from Newbury in Berkshire. If you are planning on collecting it yourself you will need a trailer or lorry capable of taking a 5. 1 metre long car with a 3. 8 metre wheelbase. I am happy to do a live video tour or take additional photos/ video of specific areas of the car for serious buyers. I am not a Land Rover guru so please be patient…
