motodrome offer for sale this rather gorgeous (in my opinion) left hand drive 1976 Land Rover 101 FC GS, in really original specification and condition.
101FC’s (Forward Control) were built 1972-78 in answer to the British Army’s need for a heavy-duty 4x4 air-transportable gun tractor that could tow a 105mm Howitzer. Sadly the Howitzer doesn’t come with this one, but, unlike many that have been subsequently converted, it still retains it’s seriously torquey Rover V8 engine.
History-wise, the owner 2013-20 (from whom we bought it and who was a true enthusiast) researched the history and found it spent almost all it’s life with various regiments in the British Army of the Rhine as 70 FL 35, before being struck off charge in Germany in 1992. We also have a copy of the B card.
Odometer reading 18000kms which, while according to the MOT database, is strictly speaking incorrect as the speedo stopped working in 2014, is probably a fair reflection of what it’s done according to the overall condition. There is a good selection of bills in the file during it’s last ownership.
It's now MOT exempt and of course qualifies for historic road tax.
All in all, it represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a really well-sorted, original spec example that’s guaranteed to be noticed wherever it goes.
