This 1968 MGC Roadster is a bit of a wolf in sheep’s clothing……
With a whole list of enhancements carried out over several years, this is a classic which can be enjoyed and used on modern roads.
Much investment has been made:
* Damico engine rebuild in 2014 (6, 300 miles ago) comprising ported and gas flowed cylinder head, lightened piston conrods, lightened flywheel, lightened crankshaft, bored pistons to 3 litres and new fast road camshaft – rolling road suggest figure just shy of 200 bhp.
* Timing and ignition now delivered by crankshaft position gauge and sensor and ignition coil pack.
* High pressure fuel system feeding AT Power injection throttle bodies on alloy air inlets direct to the head
* 5 speed Ford gearbox and gear reduction starter motor
* Typhoon 2 ECU
* Downton maniflow exhaust manifold joined to custom 2” stainless steel exhaust system (with lambda sensor access point)
* Manifold and exhaust are coated in performance grey Zircotec (£815) to reduce engine bay cooling.
* Original MGC waterpump plus additional conduit and valve to aid back cylinder (number 6) cooling.
* Twin 9” electric fans (controlled by ECU) and uprated 4-core radiator.
* Alloy top water filler ensures pressurised coolant system.
* Alloy water jacket cover by Shaun Holmes Racing.
* Normal air cooler for oil, oil temp gauge added
* Uprated engine mounts.
* Dual 12v battery system plus uprated 80 amp alternator
* Battery cut off
The bodyshell was subject to a full rebuild by MG Motorsport back in 2005, taken back to bare metal, repaired and/ or replaced where necessary and repainted in Snowberry white. There is a large selection of photographs chronicling the build, along with a huge and detailed folder of invoices, receipts, previous MOT certificates etc.
