Description
The MGC was introduced in 1967 as the six-cylinder development of the MGB, created to offer greater performance while retaining the character and practicality of MG’s established sports car. Powered by the 2. 9-litre C-Series engine, the MGC was produced in relatively limited numbers and today represents an interesting and increasingly sought-after chapter in MG’s history.
Milestone Classics are delighted to offer this lovely 1968 MGC, finished in blue with a contrasting black interior. Registered in 1968 and showing just two keepers from new, this is an exceptionally well-presented example with a particularly interesting history and a level of care that is evident throughout.
The car was restored by an MG specialist to concours standard before being purchased by a gentleman named Gordon Cockhill. Gordon was an enthusiastic classic car owner and, as part of his large collection, used the MGC annually for classic car shows and excursions. During his ownership the car was enjoyed as intended, while being carefully maintained and preserved.
Over the years the MGC has been maintained by John Chatham Cars, ensuring that it has remained in pristine condition. It has been regularly wax-oiled throughout its box sections and benefits from a number of thoughtful mechanical upgrades, including a high-gear starter motor and a stainless-steel exhaust with a six-branch manifold system, built and fitted by Maniflow. Of particular interest, Maniflow still retain the patterns for the original factory Sebring exhaust system.
The car has been converted to run on unleaded fuel and comes with invoices covering servicing and routine maintenance carried out over the years. There is also some MOT history and V5 documentation to help trace its history, along with several original tax discs and an MGC sales brochure.
The specification is completed by a mohair hood and matching mohair tonneau cover, while the black interior complements the blue exterior particularly well.
Kept within a large private collection and stored in a dry, climate-controlled garage, this MGC has clearly benefited from sympathetic ownership and careful preservation. It drives beautifully and is ready for its next owner to enjoy, whether that be on the open road, at classic car shows or simply as a very special addition to a collection.
Viewing is strictly by appointment only.
