We are pleased to have been commissioned to advertise for sale this superb, and largely original, MGA Roadster of 1956.
Dispatched in March 1956 for the home market and registered in October 1956, this example looks to have been supplied by Beechwood Motors of Newport in its early life (their dealer plate is still attached to the dash!). The original buff logbook is included which details a number of early ownership changes; the extensive folder of historical paperwork with this one has MOT certificates dating back to 1975 and maintenance history back to 1995. The paperwork is extensive detailing invoices and work done on the car in recent years. It also includes a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate.
In terms of originality, it has been maintained to a high standard since the 1990s in a way sympathetic of it being a classic car. Many components, including the dash instruments, are original. It was subject to a high quality respray in the 1990s in the original colour. The records suggest it has done around 4, 800 miles since 2000. The leather upholstery is in good order for its age. It is in generally excellent condition, having been maintained diligently but managing to hold on to that 1950s charm. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt in 2013 (approx. 1, 300 miles ago). It starts on the button, drives wonderfully, and does everything you would expect of the 1500cc engine; incidentally, the engine is the original for this car.
In recent years it has been fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system and a Motolita steering wheel and boss (the original is still with the car!). In 2020 a new 12v battery conversion was made.
It has had a replacement high-quality fabric hood fitted and comes with a good tonneau cover. It also comes with the correct replacement side screens and a good indoor, fitted car cover.
Overall, perfect for enjoying this summer! It is in ready to go condition and wants for nothing, it is ready to jump in and drive away. Being a historic vehicle, it benefits from being tax and MOT exempt.
