The History
The Chevrolet Chevelle is a sport car produced by Chevrolet, between 60s and 70s and was one of General Motors' most successful models.
The Chevelle range included various models, some cheap, others very powerful intended for a more demanding target. Although there was also the 4-door sedan version, the Chevelle par excellence remains the two-door coupe version, also produced with opening roof on request.
The SS version represented a high-end version with its own line of high-performance accessories and engines, initially available in the version with a 5. 4 L V8 engine, later a sportier 6. 6 L, to end at the most powerful engine ever mounted, the 7. 4 L 450 HP LS6.
The Chevelle, with the Pontiac GTO, was among the most popular cars of its time, thanks to the high performance at a reasonable price becoming one of the most popular cars both on the roads and on the track.
Many Americans chose this car for cost-effectiveness as, unlike cars of higher size and cost, it had enough space for a family of 5 as well as reasonable comfort. There were also a lot of optional as power steering, AC, automatic gearbox, vinyl roof and white band tires as well.
In the mid-1970s the name Chevelle was changed to Chevelle Malibù, only to disappear permanently after the launch of the 1977 model.
