Only 150 Ruby 900 T16S models were produced for the UK market alone, in the final year of classic Mk1 Saab 900 production, 1993. Our car, No 138 of 150 was originally bought in by Mr Horst Faas, a renowned photographer during the Vietnam war.
The Ruby name unsurprisingly comes from the deep red wine paintwork, which included body-matched bumpers and grey alloy wheels.
These final edition cars where fitted with the undoubtedly famous higher bhp carlsson engines compared to the standard 900 turbos. They’re a fantastic engine which included the highly desirable upgraded red automatic Performance Control (APC) system giving 185 bhp and 204 lbft torque.
The car has recently had its stunning wheels refurbished and the body work has undergone a detail with only minor age related marks to note.
The correct zenga wool material was sourced from France to reupholster the seat centres which had faded over time which has left the interior immaculate.
Anyone who has driven any old turbo cars of this era, knows of the thrills they bring and our Saab is no different, the engine has covered a mere 140k miles and is sweet, strong, punchy with the turbo boost being fabulous through all gears. Naturally this is best enjoyed with 1 eye on the boost gage and one eye on the road.
The complete original Saab leather folder is present along with an extra file full of history, bills and even the original sales invoice.
We have recently had the car motd and is ready to be cherished and enjoyed by a new owner.
