1939 Ford Model 91a Standard Tudor Hot Rod. I imported this car from Colorado, USA in 2019. It had been fully rebuilt about nine years ago and then stored.
This was the first year for hydraulic brakes, and fully synchro transmission on Fords, and tube front axle. Last year with an opening front screen.
The previous owner kept a fastidious record of the $17, 000 he spent on the car, not including the engine, and there is lots of paperwork to support this. One of the photos shows the new parts fitted.
The period engine modifications include a later 1942 49AB Flathead motor with Mercury crank, giving a displacement of 255 cu in. It has a vintage Winfield SUA-1 performance cam & Offenhauser finned aluminium heads. Has an alloy inlet manifold. Comes with a matching Holley 94 with a view to fitting dual carb set up.
All of the panels on this car are original, and it appears to have never had any rust -– amazing for a 1939 vehicle! Paint job is presentable, but not a show winning finish. There is a small crease in the o’s rear wing, and a couple or scratches and some road rash, but on the plus side it is otherwise very straight with perfect panel gaps.
Interior is fully re-trimmed with deluxe steering wheel and TPI aftermarket gauges.
New tyres, tubes and professionally banded rims on rear. 5. 50 on the front and 6. 50 rears. Does come with brand new repro correct V8 hubcaps not shown. I can offer the option of 6. 00 X 16 whitewalls all round if preferred. Steering is original and surprisingly light and well set up.
Car is in Lee-on-the-Solent Hants. Only selling due to trying to thin my collection down due to health reasons preventing me working on them.
