BAM Specialist Cars are pleased to offer one classic car enthusiast the rare opportunity to purchase a totally original 1961 B-spec Daimler Dart SP250, with just two owners in its 60-year life. Originally purchased by Dr George Thompson of Morecambe, the accompanying paperwork includes the original blue/ cream V5 document, correspondence between the Dart's original keeper and the Daimler Works concerning chassis 102817 undergoing an engine overhaul of the 2. 5 litre V8 power-unit and replacement rear axle at circa 18, 000 miles during August 1964, as well as multiple receipts for scheduled maintenance.

In July 1997, the vehicle was sold by dealer John D. Hull of Co. in Durham to its second and most recent owner: James Clydesdale of Edinburgh; on the basis that it had had 'one previous owner', covered '38, 000 miles' and still wore its 'original paint'.

Although MOT exempt, this time capsule of a car passed it's MOT on the 29th May 2021, with no advisories or defects (the odometer currently shows 38, 444 miles). The previous MOT test took place on June 25th 1997 at an indicated 38, 429 miles and between 1997 and 2020, this SP250 only travelled 15 miles and has otherwise been dry stored as part of a private collection until BAM Specialist Cars acquired it, since then it has undergone a full mechanical recommission, although the factory paint, leather interior and carpets remain as they were when the car left the factory in 1971. We believe the authentic patina can not be recreated and should be preserved for it's next owner to enjoy.

Comes with Owner's Handbook, sales brochure, and sundry other literature - including 2020 SP250 Register pasSPort.

This totally original example of a Daimler Dart would most certainly make the perfect addition to any classic car enthusiast's collection.

Daimler launched their new sports car at the 1959 New York Auto show. The company wanted to crack the American market and the styling had transatlantic overtones to suit. It was originally christened Dart, but Daimler quickly succumbed to the threat of legal action from Chrysler's Dodge division and rebranded it SP250. The newcomer was clothed in a tough fibreglass body and built around a traditional cruciform-braced ladder-frame chassis - the initial A specification version of which was sadly lacking in torsional rigidity. By 1960, Daimler was in Jaguar's hands and the so-called B specification SP250s featured a much stiffer frame, equipped with additional outriggers and a strengthening hoop between the B posts. Between 1959 nd 1964 only 2, 648 cars were built, with two thirds exported to the USA.
