1984 Toyota Celica GTS Coupe
Ideal Drift Resto mod Project
This is a very rare car and I’ve never seen another one in the flesh, let alone in the UK.
Very ahead of its time, 2. 0l 16V with proper electronic fuel injection (not Kjet etc), and manual 5 speed transmission with Rear wheel drive.
In 1984 this car had fully independent suspension, factory power steering, factory air con, electric sunroof, electric mirrors and a very cool graphic equalizer stereo. The Japanese cars really were a step ahead of the competition.
Essentially the car is 100% original, supplied new to Texas and comes with original books in dealer wallet.
Until very recently it was cruising around Texas as it has since 1984. It was owned by a local gun enthusiast, hot rid shop owner, and mason from the contents in the trunk ????. There are still some (empty) clips in the footwell.
This was until it had a bit of a rear end prang.
It really wants putting on a jig to straighten out the rear end, or a body dozer may do it. The rear axle is still straight, as its trailing arm suspension so that was unaffected. The rear end has pushed right upto the wheel and the passenger door doesn’t fully close
It starts runs and drives, everything electrical works and its begging to be brought back to life.
There is ZERO rust on this car as it only arrived in the UK last week.
Its so super original that personally I’d restore it as is, and resto-mod with the original engine. That said it would make a very distinctive drifter, as you aren’t going to see another one!
I’ve only ever seen 1 other for sale and it was £20K plus, so with a bit of hard work this could be a very valuable little Japanese sportscar!
Comes with NOVA and Texas title (marked salvage)
