HERE is my 1951 Lea Francis 14 saloon. A mere 700 or so of this model were built and, back in the day, it was a pricey, up-market, hand built saloon featuring an all aluminium body and an 1800cc twin-cam engine.
MOT until March 2022!!
Lea Francis cars would have been pretty much unaffordable for most post-war motorists and I do detect a style similar to luxury motors of the day such as Bentley, Alvis and Riley to name but three.
She is in really good order for a 70-year-old car and looks to be extremely sound underneath too. She drives incredibly well and smoothly and the bulk of her body and paintwork is very much acceptable in my opinion. There is some small evidence of aluminium corrosion but this is mainly confined to the areas above the piping on the rear wheel arches. All in all, a very pretty and imposing motor car!
She boasts a beautiful interior in original green leather and wood. Even the sliding sunroof works!
This is a unique opportunity to acquire a 1950s classic which will always be an ultra-rare sight these days, even on the show grounds. Highly usable and one hell of an eye-catching luxury saloon. Her reg. is UOI 483 and she has a current new-style UK V5.
Please remember that these classic cars are the equivalent of motoring antiques and cannot, under any circumstances, be compared to your new BMW. Go around them with a fine toothcomb and you will find faults. They all have them unless they are presented as concours! They all need ongoing love and care. They tend to leak oil in varying degrees. They may break down, play up or even present you with a mystery that takes some solving. But that is all part and parcel of classic car ownership. They are there to be loved and cherished like a family pet. They are our motoring heritage and should be treated as such. This old girl for example is now 70-years-old.
