Motodrome offer for sale this 1979 example of the ever-popular Land Rover Series III Lightweight (Air Portable) GS 12 volt, , finished in NATO IRR drab, that has been rebuilt at some point onto a Marsland chassis.

Military-spec wise retains it’s correct front bumper, twin fuel tanks, narrow stubaxles, working oil cooler, wheelarch toolbox, rear bumperettes, NATO towhook, correct split tailgate and near-new military-pattern GS tilt.
Also fitted with a matching set of 4 750x16 tyres

Inside, it has 3 military spec seats in the front (all with belts) and twin rear bench seats, Smiths flat heater, and aux power panel with volt meter, USB, & cigarette lighter. It’s also fitted with a smaller steering wheel, although we have the original.

Odometer reading 54000 miles and comes with a nice file of history (including details of it’s army service as 09 GT 01). A previous owner tells us that it had
• Reconditioned correct spec (951 prefix ) 2. 25 engine fitted in service in 1993
• Recent new 3 piece clutch kit
• Gearbox recently stripped, new seals, new bearings, shims (where required), gear box mounts, wheel cylinders

It also comes with memorabilia and Classic Land Rover magazine article from its adventure to France and back for the 75th D Day Anniversary in 2019

We sold this one to a retired gentleman in 2020, so it’s well known to us. Sadly, due to health issues, he’s been unable to use it much at all, so we were happy to have it back into stock.

I’ve owned and driven many Lightweights over the years, and this is one of the nicest, most sorted ones I’ve had, with the Marsland chassis being a real bonus. It’s full of character, and on test run on arrival it performed superbly. I’d happily drive it back to Normandy...

On our own website, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description of the vehicle
