The W113 SL-series was introduced in 1963 with the 230. Designed by Paul Bracq, the Pagoda SL was seen as elegant and comfortable with performance to match its compact dimensions. It had a wide track and short wheelbase, with smartsteel wheels filling the arches and white rimmed tyres. The slick body enclosed a monocoque chassis equipped with all-round independent suspension, power-assisted disc/ drum brakes, recirculating ball steering and a 2306cc straight-six engine mated to either a four-speed manual 'box or automated transmission. Performance figures at the time were 150bhp and 145 lb-ft of torque.
This stunning 230 SL with its manual 'box is perfect for the summer months, resplendent in white with a red leather interior and red softop. The car has been cherished by its former owners and was the subject of a full ‘nut and bolt’ restoration completed during the 1990’s and professionally stored (Autostore – Cambridge) until late 2017. The restoration and mechanical work are fully detailed in the history folder, including copious invoices and detailed photographs.
There are also MoT certificates that date back to 1985 as well as an original Mercedes Benz parts list, a factory service manual and an original owner’s manual.
