1965 Land Rover series 2A 88 2. 25 petrol.
For sale is Dudley, a charming example of a series 2a 88” pick up Land Rover. We restored him in 2020 which included a full chassis and bulkhead strip down and repair. Both are now in excellent condition - wherever there was rust, it was cut out and repaired. Following rust treatment, both were protected and painted.
Importantly, an entirely new wiring loom was installed, including a security isolator switch, modern fuse box and trailer lights.
The restoration also included installing new exmoor trim leather seats and a Bluetooth integrated stereo.
We have done our best to keep Dudley as original as possible but added upgrades where we felt it would add comfort. The original wheels and tyres have been preserved and these will be included. The engine was in great condition so we did not do a strip down just the general routine maintenance. He does run a bit rich but this is standard for these engines.
As is clear from the photos, we opted to retain his original paint work except for the bulkhead and door tops.
I have seen many series Land Rovers but none have the same charm as old dudders.
He falls into the category of MOT and tax exemption and insurance is around £100 per year on a classic car. I can provide the details of his cover if you’d like. Dudley is super cheep to run and is also exempt from the ultra low emission zone in London!
It will be a sad day to sell him but a great day for whoever buys him! He is kept inside in Dorset and can be viewed and test driven upon request.
