Description

Gilera Nordwest 600, a real looker, the original production Super Moto. This bike is in excellent condition for a 28 year old and has covered only 5899 miles in total. I'm a big Gilera fan and I purchased this bike new on March 24th 1994, I used it on some super fun sunny days mostly on twisty B roads and covered approx 4000 miles in the first three years. At that point I started a new job working abroad and the Nordwest was stored in my garage until I returned home in 2006.
After recommissioning the bike passed it's first MOT on 19 April 2007 reading 6603 kms. My first love is two strokes and I'll usually take one of my stinkwheels out but I have used the Nordwest occassionally since then for some thumping on sunny days only.
Overall the Nordy is in excellent condition but it's not immaculate, the time in storage has lead to some flaking paint on the engine and I did have a slow speed off in 2015, luckily the righthand bar end and foot peg took all contact with the tarmac however, there are some light scratches on the right rear side panel where it just kissed the ground. The close up image of the panel was taken before I cleaned it up a little, the scratches are still there but they are now less visible as can be seen in the next two images. 28 years of life in a garage have produced a couple of small marks in the plastics but you have to look hard to find them. The plastic tool kit holder has one mounting lug missing but can be mounted on the bike without it.
The water pumps can be a weak point of the Nordwest engine but I removed the original and fitted a quality German after market pump (- details above) designed for this Gilera Bi4 power unit in April 2015, at which time the bike had covered 8500 kms. The sprag clutch can be another trouble engine item and this one did fail in the first decade of the bikes life but I stripped it down and rebuilt it with stronger springs.

Back up to date and the bike passsed its lastest MOT on 27th Oct '21 and the last timing belt change was on 23rd June 2020. The
bike comes with the original Gilera Handbook, tool kit and mirrors which are not shown on the photos. I'm selling now as I don't use
it enough, I have more two strokes now than I did when I bought it in back '94 so I'm not likely to use it much in the future and this is a bike that should be ridden.
