This superb driving, all weather driving MGB GT V8 has been owned by a local retired Professor in Thornton Le Dale for the past six years. Having a show winning quality MGC GT also in the garage, the purchase of this MGB GT V8 was made in 2015 with the idea of having all year round usable MG for all weather purposes. With a preference for power and performance, its recent owner opted for a V8 conversion (carried out over 20 years ago) and found this car with a notably impressive specification. Since buying the car, a further £5000 has been spent on various improvements.
Prior to changing hands in 2015, the MG was converted to V8 specification with a Rover 3. 5 engine with 3. 9 camshaft. The specification boasts twin electric fans, Rover Vitesse 5 speed gearbox, V8 rear axle, rear telescopic shocks, twin exhaust, JWR 7001 induction manifold, Edelbrock carburettor and Mallory distributor. The MG was painted in Rover Nightwatch Blue, was fitted with an enhanced leather upholstery and Motolita steering wheel fitted. A set of genuine MG V8 wheels were also fitted to the car. A copy of a magazine article from the Highland MG Owners Club is with the car covering the restorers account of the conversion and restoration.
Over 2015 and 2016 over £3500 was spent on the MG to include a full service, new seat belts, oil temperature gauge, new water temperature/ oil pressure gauge, clock, differential oil change and replacement gasket, rear axle seals, new crankcase breather hoses, new rocker cover gaskets, new gearbox seal, front brake pads and discs, new rear brake shoes and a high torque starter motor. Over £1700 was spent on trim work to include new carpets and headlining and the MG was taken to a specialist for full hot fog rust proofing process.
Over the last six years the MG has covered around 6000 faultless miles, the majority of this being between 2015 and 2019. Since then the MG has covered less than 1000 miles and this is part of the reason for parting with the car. (lack of use). It has been MOT tested each year, and good maintenance and upkeep has ensured its passed every MOT with its most recent owner. The MG was driven over to us for inspection, and is a fantastic driving car. Its quick, handles well and is absolutely on the button and ready to go. The car is cosmetically presentable, but as expected with an all year round usable MG that was restored over 20 years ago, it does have its imperfections. Importantly the car is structurally excellent, and offers good value for a quick, excellent driving MGB that has had £5000 of work with its recent owner.
