The Civilian Jeep (CJ) was created in 1945 to be the first mass-produced 4x4 off road vehicle. Its trademark features were retained over the 1. 5 mi copies made over 41 years and included an open-top body over a separate chassis, rigid live axles with leaf springs, fold-flat windshield, flared bilateral front fenders, a tapering engine lid and driving with no doors. The 7th and last CJ series was introduced in 1976 and was described by Jeep's manufacturer American Motors Corporation as 'The Last of a Great Breed'. It featured a longer wheelbase and farther mounting of leaf suspension providing for superior handling. The body's side cutouts were enlarged to permit fitting proper steel doors while the chassis was strengthened via 2 longitudinal main C-section rails. Moreover, the CJ7 was the first CJ to offer an automatic gearbox matched to a Quadra-Trac all wheel drive system. Despite its end of production in 1986, the CJ7 established the CJ series as an all time classic 70s-80s icon of the American automotive and TV culture.
The CJ7 offered was specially ordered in 1977 to feature a 258ci straight 6 engine matched to a 3-spd automatic column shifting gearbox to a Quadra Trac drivetrain. Its options included the T-76CG package that offered Levi trimmed bucket seats. Once assembled, it was fitted with a US dealer-provided 2000/ 12 Ramsey Winch and delivered to its first and sole owner in Athens, Greece. Many years later it was resprayed in black and trimmed in grey leatherette. It is now offered in full matching numbers condition in its factory specified mechanical options.
