This is Ruby a Citroen HY Van bought as a non-runner to promote our daughter’s business which is now successful so this catering / event van is ready to support your business.
Ruby started out prior to her 1969 UK registration date as a Fire Service vehicle in France (1968 or earlier, but after 1963). She then served as a crepe wagon at festivals in the ‘80s/ 90s and then had a prolonged barn storage. So here’s a list of what has been done to recommission (photo documented & receipted):
• New Pistons / liners
• New engine electrical bits / battery
That got her going.
• Bodywork rust treatment / welded repairs (floor was already done & is lowered slightly)
• Rustoleum paint inside and out
• Window channels replaced
• Seats refurbed / new covers
• New lights all round + an auto electrician to validate.
• Payload area insulated & reboarded
• Bamboo worktops installed + rear door serving area
• Serving hatch snail hinge and gas struts fitted
• 5 new tyres and tubes
• New clutch (professional job)
That got us on the road and ready for your business. Citroen HY Vans are people magnets – they wave and smile as you drive by and come up and talk when you park. To drive they are LHD, slow (60kph max) and noisy but the ride is surprisingly good.
There are some issues to fix – the heater blower does not work and the syncro on 2nd gear is a bit crunchy. Please be aware that as a 50+ year old vehicle it will need love and care.

Some extra details:
The chain & padlock in the cab are a security measure - keys to door locks are missing,
There are 2 sets of ignition key and security padlock keys,
The floor was lowered previously and I can stand comfortably in the back and I’m 6’1”,
The spare wheel compartment was modified for gas storage and now houses the spare wheel again,
The original jack is present as well as the starting handle (plus sockets and lever for jack & wheel nuts,
The side door, rear doors and spare wheel are padlock secured with the same key as the one in the cab,
The hatch has internal bolts to secure,
The cab and load area have a small sliding glass window between.
