Recently imported from the States to the UK, we are in love with this 71 Nova. The story as told by its most recent owner was that he was the third owner. The first owner purchased the car new in Redline, PA and babied the car. This is evident in the cars current condition as the panels are fantastic on the car and appear to be all original. Furthermore, the underside is extremely clean and we cannot find any evidence of patches or welded in replacement panels.
The second owner bought the car in stock condition. They repainted the car and swapped out the factory 6 cylinder in lieu of a 327 V8 and Turbo 400 Transmission. The third owner from whom the car was most recently purchased bought the car and set about replicating the cars he remembered from his high school days. He added a Pete Jackson gear drive, so the car sounds amazing, traction bars and the tacho.
The spec of the running gear is as follows:
- 327 bored 30 over
- Dart steel heads
- Edelbrock intake, carb and cam,
- TRW pistons and rods
- Headman headers
- MSD electronic ignition and taco with shift light
- Big block radiator to further aid cooling
- Transmission is a built Turbo 400 with reverse valve body manual shift and 2200 stall converter
- Hurst V matic shifter
- New heavy duty drive shaft with larger U joints
- 10 bolt 373 gear equipped rear end with an Eaton posi locker
- Big block springs front and back with air shocks at the rear
- Dual exhaust
- Traction bars
As the body has less than 40, 000 original miles, it was the most recent owner's intention to keep the car forever but family circumstances forced a sale. The paint job is very good quality but you can find some defects here and there.
