ALFA ROMEO 1750 GTV / GTAm HISTORIC RACE CAR

Currently undergoing a meticulous build by Westbourne Motorsport, this RHD 1750 GTV is being prepared for the HRDC 'Classic Alfa Challenge' as an evocation of the legendary Arnold Chatz 1969 Kyalami 9-Hours SUPERFORMANCE GTAm - the only RHD GTAm built.
Starting as an Alfa Romeo dealer in Krugersdorp in South Africa from 1961, to the move to Craighall in 1969, Chatz's dealership empire has grown to encompass brands such as Maserati, Renault, Fiat, Nissan and of course Alfa Romeo.
With his affinity to Alfa Romeo and seeing that by racing cars at the weekend he could sell the brand on weekdays, Chatz's racing Alfas were a potent sales tool. His relationship with AutoDelta in Italy was duly forged and Chatz had access to all their latest tweaks although it was well-known that Chatz had development ideas of his own and his results showed that, time and time again, his team was the one to beat with his Alfas invariably blitzing the opposition.
Westbourne Motorsport run some of the leading teams in the HRDC Historic Racing Series. Their own, ex-Chris Rea, Alfa Romeo Sprint GT has become the most-winning car in the HRDC 'Classic Alfa Challenge', driven by James Colburn.
Therefore it was a a natural choice to commission Westbourne Motorsport to undertake this huge undertaking. Their attention to detail is well-known in Goodwood Revival and Members Meeting paddocks with many of the competing cars having been restored and prepared by this leading specialist in historic race cars.
It goes without saying that the full drivetrain of this car has also been entrusted to Westbourne Motorsport who have now track tested the car and have raced it at Silverstone on the Grand Prix circuit, where the car qualified 5th o/ and 2nd in Class.
The specification of this car closely follows that of period FIA regulations, thus making this car eligible for the historic 'MONZA' class of the HRDC 'Classic Alfa Challenge'.
