Pre-runner to the GT250 2 stroke
I've had this bike a few years as it was in such good original condition.
I'm only selling because I have far to many bikes and I need to make room for some more I've bought,
Its a US import so there is no rust and I've had quite a lot re-chromed and polished.
That includes chrome original exhausts, mudguard, side panels and polished engine cases.
I had the Suzuki emblems on the side panels gold plated.
The engine ran when I got it but the gears weren't working so I stripped the gearbox to find nothing was broken or worn, it was just gummed up with old oil. A good clean up and its fine now.
It was very advanced for its day. For example there is a very clever combined alternator and starter which fires up easily.
The rear brake is hydraulic and has great feel.
There are only 1600 miles on the clock and I think its right but cant guarantee it obviously.
Even the tyres are the correct make but look virtually new with no cracks.
I'd even say they were the original ones but don't see how they could be after 55 years.
Its got a new gel battery.
I had the seat professionally recovered as well buy the same guy that Henry Cole uses as he is based here in Birmingham
I'm sure I missed some of the finer points and some of things I did to this bike but it really is superb although not perfect.
If I was being picky, I'd have the handlebars and switch gear polished and there are some very minor marks on the original paint.
It wouldn't take a lot to make it a show winner.
I never got round to getting a UK reg but its not that hard as I have the NOVA number to get one.
Its not that painful a process which I can guide you through and costs about £55 to the DVLA.
It starts easily but has been standing for 6 months in my warm cellar so it'll need the carb cleaning out and a little fettling before you ride it down to the pub.
Boring stuff
