Description
Porsche 924 2. 0 Barn Find
This car has been dry stored for 22 years, the chassis is original and has no rot. I purchased this with the intention of fully restoring and using as a day to day classic, but unfortunately my circumstances have changed and I have decided to let it go.
Work carried out to date:
Injection Metering Unit gasket replaced
Fuel Pump and Fuel Filter replaced
Spark plugs, HT Leads, Distributor, and Rotor Arm replaced
Warm Up Valve has been refurbished
Engine Oil, and Filter replaced
Coolant replaced
Brakes all round have been cleaned, serviced and flushed with fresh fluid, brakes work perfectly.
V5 has been applied for.
Engine & Transmission
The car starts after about 5/ 6 tries when cold, but once it is warm it will start on the first turn. Once running, the car will drive well and change through all the gears with no issue. The clutch does feel high and on hard acceleration it slips. It either needs adjustment or more likely replacement. The engine has been serviced and has new ignition parts, and the clock shows 43k. As this vehicle has been dry stored for 22 years it seems reasonable that this is original mileage, although I have nothing to back this up.
Exterior & Interior
The drivers seat is quite well worn with rips on the bolster and the base is sagging. The passenger front seat has survived a bit better. The rear bench is clean and tidy. The dashboard and console is cracked all over and the original AM/ FM stereo does not work. All the electrical items work, fan, heater, headlights etc everything works, including the electric windows. The wheels are corroded and could do with a clean but the tyres hold pressure and are in tact but they have been on the vehicle during the 22 years of dry storage.
The engine bay is rot free which is evident from the photo of the scuttle area and overall the car is in a good position for restoration. It can be test driven, and driven on to a trailer or recovery truck. There is no MOT but given the overall condition of the vehicle, I don't believe it needs a lot if anything to pass.
