Description
HERE is a mega rare 1958 Morris Isis Series II. This model had a very short production span with less than 4, 000 being built. The story goes that BMC was so obsessed with launching their brand new Farina shape (which they did later that year) that the Series II Isis and Oxford were phased out very quickly. You will not the Series II here with its different rear end from the earlier Isis which carried the rounded boot the same as the Oxford and Cowley.
The Isis was given the Donald Healey 2600cc straight-six engine and, as such, knocked out 90 bhp. This was the model that carried the right hand gear shift (see photos) as did the Wolseley 6/ 90 and the Riley Pathfinder of the same era.
This rare old girl drives superbly and appears to be really solid in all the right places. Looks extremely sound underneath and still has original jacking points. Very tidy engine bay too. She has been re-trimmed and has bits and pieces in her history file going back to original service books being stamped in the late 50s and early 60s. Some of her paintwork may be a little tired - polished through to primer etc - but she is a proud, honest old girl and worth every penny. Find another!
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 64-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. Please bear all this in mind, and enjoy your classic car. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote. Thanks, Martin. the details below.
