This is a smashing vintage sports car with VSCC eligibility document (Standard Class) dated 14th April 2015, so an excellent and inexpensive package for vintage events. The Porlock is the Sports model of the Singer Junior range, and gets its name from the epic feat on 4 December 1928, when, under RAC scrutiny, a Junior Sports made 100 consecutive ascents of the notorious Porlock Hill in Somerset. The model was thereafter called the Porlock. This particular example is technically a recreation, having been accurately built by Singer expert, Dick Preston, around the year 2000, using a Singer Junior as the basis. The V5C shows a first registration date as 31st January 1930. This is a good looking car, proper vintage style and in very good order. Nice patina, with good paintwork and interior, and clean and tidy underneath. The car starts, runs and drives as you would expect, and has the benefit of a 4-speed gearbox, SU carburettor and 12v electrics. Excellent spoked wheels with good Excelsior tyres, good luggage compartment at the rear – and almost forgot – a marvellous, noisy claxon horn! Driving this car is truly vintage and great fun. An all-round great vintage car. Comes with V5C, continuation logbook from 1964 and handbook.
