For sale is a rare Ducati 888 SP5, number 86 of 500, built in early 1993 (part of the first 200 batch).
As a Superbike homologation special, this bike comes with many desirable extras. Above the SP5 spec (including tuned engine, alloy rear subframe, Öhlins shock, lots of carbon, shorter gearing etc.), this bike comes with race rear stand, SBK style front brake and clutch reservoirs, tangential exhaust pipes and contemporary Termignoni carbon mufflers.
At home in Italy for most of her life and owned by a German motorcycle journalist and connoisseur of Italian bikes over the last years, the 888 is in very good shape. Lots of work and maintenance was carried out, including:
* Big service at Ducati works in Bologna (belts, valves, fluids, sparks, injectors, fuel pump, starter motor etc., over 3. 400 Euros alone)
* Partial Repaint (some at Ducati works Bologna)
* New cast-iron/ fully floating front brakes, plus new calipers, lines and pump
* Restored SP5 foot pegs
* Restored factory carbon fenders
* New battery
* Fresh rubber (Michelin Pilot Power 2CT)
She runs fine, is a joy to ride and looks stunning, while keeping a suitable level of patina. Many parts still have the original elephant (Cagiva) logo embossed (e. g. windscreen, wheels, clutch cover, fuel filler etc.), which adds to the authenticity of this bike. A VIN-related confirmation from Ducati works about the SP5 originality is present.
The bike comes with Italian papers. German papers and TÜV are optional (free of charge). A magazine feature about this particular bike (together with a 851 S3) is also available. She´s got two keys.
