Description
Norton ES2 500cc, first registered 17 Jan 1950. Matching frame and engine numbers. Original (transferable) registration number KYO 605. Tidy but not immaculate, and in good running order.
I have owned the bike for 3 years and ride it frequently. It required quite a bit of fettling at the outset to sort out various problems and the following items have been done:
New engine and gearbox sprockets, new front and rear chains
New rear brake drum and sprocket, replacement brake plate
Carburettor bored true with replacement slide to suit.
Electronic voltage regulation with bright LED bulbs front and rear.
Speedo mechanism overhauled by Ashley Pople.
Tank and seat replaced.
Oil tap fitted
The bike is ready to ride, with fully functional lights and brakes. It is very easy to start – usually first ‘proper’ kick after a couple of priming kicks. The paintwork has had some chips touched in but is generally tidy. The tank is pristine. The wheels are sound but there are patches where the chrome has lifted.
