An original Manx Norton 40M - 348cc. From the Norton factory records, the frame was supplied in May 1956 to Harold Towner for rider Timmy Robb. Robb was a Grand Prix motorcycle racer from Belfast in Northern Ireland. The 348cc engine dates from March 1955, and was supplied to Swiss Norton Agent, Alfred Demont in Geneva for rider Maurice Quincey. Quincey was Australian and started racing in 1947. He finished fifth in the 1955 IOM 350 TT.
The bike is in excellent condition and was restored by Robin Williamson in Oakham, a well known solo and sidecar racer , who owned his own precision engineering Company. The bike was purchased from his estate along with four other bikes.
As the bike had not run for a while, Andy Savage of Savage Treamtent Racing, one of the Worlds top Manx engine builders, was commissioned to totally strip the engine, check, make improvements where necessary, rebuild and refit to the bike.
