Here we have for sale a late Series 3 ragtop presented in Audi Nardo Grey, with black wheels and canvas. This vehicle comes as a high specification unit, with later 90 diesel engine mated to a 4 speed reconditioned gearbox.
As can be seen from the photos, the striking colour scheme is offset with black and silver detailing – with the black wheels and canvas, defender wing mirrors against the galvanised bumper and silver lamp surrounds. The silver detailing carries into the modular wheels and wheel nuts, tying the scheme together in a pleasing fashion. The rugged wheels are housed within black wheel arch extenders with wheel spacers and the spare is housed on a custom swingaway wheel carrier for ease of storage, with a John Brown 4×4 wheel cover. There is a height adjustable tow bar with body mounted electrics, rear mud flaps and folding rear step.
The interior has also been uprated with later high back seats with a seat belt bar which allows for 3 point inertia reel seat belts. Door cards and deluxe matting is fitted for that premium feel, and for music lovers out there we have designed a custom stereo system that actually works in a Series vehicle! This has been done using a high-power bluetooth stereo and good quality speakers, using the cubby box as a stereo speaker unit. It is also isolated by the small switch between the cupholders so can be used without the ignition key and isolated thereafter to prevent battery draining. This system has to be heard to be believed – it may look modest, but the positioning of the speakers affords driver and passenger a great listening experience….. it really is a great stereo. The dash is otherwise standard and has been neatly re-trimmed in times past. The rear is currently unfitted, with the exception of a load mat to the floor, but bench seats can be added if required for £495 to make a six person vehicle including the driver.
Out on the road, this reasonably unique looking Series 3 performs really well – the later 90 engine starts and runs without issue and the power steering makes for a far more civilised and easy driving experience. The slightly larger wheels and tyres (along with spacers) increase the gearing ratios affording a more relaxed cruise. There are some AVN free wheeling hubs to aid economy and reduce axle wear, and uprated suspension for a better ride. All these things combined mean that this Series 3 goes as well as it looks! As this vehicle sits upon a Galvanised Chassis, it can be enjoyed and passed down through the family when that time arises.
