I travelled to the south coast to buy this late last year, as it’s the perfect spec and such a well looked after XC70. I now have the opportunity to build a 4x4 camper to use this summer, so unfortunately the XC needs to go to make space.
Externally, the Electric Silver Metallic paintwork is virtually unmarked, with just a couple of small touched-in chips on the bonnet. The 17 inch Sargas alloy wheels are fitted with a matched set of Continental all season tyres, and are in very good condition. I had the Thule swan neck towbar fitted in January 2022, with both 7 pin and 13 pin electrics. It has only been used to tow a trailer when I was moving house. The boot spoiler, mudflaps, parking sensors, electric tailgate and factory xenon headlamps are all nice features to have on these.
Inside the car, everything works perfectly, including keyless entry and start, the keys are the rare optional ‘Personal Car Communicators’ which include extra functions over the normal keys. Both front seats are heated and electrically adjustable, and climate control blows cold, Bluetooth works seamlessly for both calls and music, and the upgraded 4C adjustable suspension works just as it should. It even comes with a compass rear view mirror, which will be missed! The seats are lovely supple Anthracite leather, and the real wood trim adds a touch of class. Of course these cars excel at being practical, to that end it has a full set of genuine Volvo rubber floor trays, and a boot load liner, to keep the carpets clean. The fitted dog guard has had new gas struts fitted as it wasn’t staying in the stowed position. Being the XC model, it also comes with Hill Descent Control which is amazing on snow and ice.
Under the bonnet is a similar story. The car comes with reams of service history, and the cambelt was replaced in December 2016 at 180, 000 miles, so isn’t due for quite some time. It was fully serviced in May 2022 using genuine filters, and the correct grade of synthetic oil. I also had the geartronic oil partially changed as this is recommended at each service interval to keep the gearbox healthy. The swirl flaps were also replaced in June 2021. The car drives exactly as it should, it pulls perfectly well in all gears, stops sharply, and corners just as it should. It doesn’t consume any oil or coolant, and when it was serviced in May I had a couple of coolant hoses replaced as a preventative measure.
The asking price does not include the current registration, but I am open to offers to sell it on the car. The car is at my home just outside Whitehaven in West Cumbria, but I’m happy to take more photos, videos etc. if needed, and I can also offer to deliver it anywhere in the UK and Ireland for cost. For collection, my nearest railway stations are either Whitehaven or St Bees.
