For sale is my 1978 Suzuki TS125. The bike was imported from Canada on the 14th of July 2021, I bought the bike from the importer and registered it on the 11th of November 2021.
Following purchase I've undertaken recommissioning works in order to get it back on the road.
Work undertaken on the bike since purchase includes;
- Both crank seals (which involved splitting the crank case)
- Fitted a new piston and rings
- Lighting system rewiring
- Fitted new indicators (front and back)
- Fitted a set of new Kenda tyres and tubes
- Fitted a new seat cover
- Fitted a new carburettor
- A variety of electricals including the points, condenser, coil, lead, spark plug, battery
- Fitted new oil and dust seals on forks
- Fitted new break shoes (front and back)
All electricals are in working order including the headlight, tail light, break light, indicators, and horn.
Mechanically, chain and sprockets appear to be in good order. The gearbox is in good order, with easily selectable gears. The exhaust is in fair order with no holes. The rear wheel rim has a dent as shown in the photos in this advert, this does not affect the ride. The bike came with an original tacho with no speedometer, meaning the bike had no recorded mileage. I have fitted an aftermarket speedo (no cable) and the original tacho appears not to be working.
When first getting the bike running, it appeared to be smoking excessively. Therefore, I drained the oil tank and used pre-mixed fuel to test the system. Resulting in the bike running well with much less smoke. I have not looked further into reconnecting the oil system or testing the flow of the pump, instead running the bike using pre-mix.
Upon completing the recommissioning of the bike, I rode it for a number of hours in which time it was pulling well without excessive smoke with the engine sounding as it should. Currently, the bike will start and run for approximately 5-10 seconds before dying. I have had a brief look into this, the ignition system appears to be working, fuel is reaching the carb, and the jets are clear. Having now passed my full bike licence I have moved onto another project, meaning I feel it is time to pass on the Suzuki to someone who could continue where I left off.
Generally the bike is in fair condition, once running properly will be ready to use as is or would make a good candidate for full restoration. All original parts which have been since swapped out are present and will be sold with the bike.
