PRINCIPLE FACTS
An R107 500SL in truly remarkable condition with a service history and options list to match. This is the kind of car we get excited about finding and offering for sale. The history dates back to the car's delivery and registration in 1987, right up to the present day.
The options fitted to this SL are exactly what we'd pick for an R107 to jump in and enjoy from the driver's seat. A limited-slip differential helps portion out the traction from 242 Stuttgart horses trying to escape through the rear end, while cruise control allows you to sit back and relax when the red mist has abated.
OVERVIEW & EQUIPMENT
Over the pricey options above, this car's owners have added a few more useful upgrades along the way. There's an Auto Watch alarm and immobiliser (circa 2008) and a Blaupunkt Symphony stereo with code protection and faders, usually found in Porsche 911s (circa 1990). Heated side mirrors, electrically adjustable on the right-hand side, are joined by heat-insulated glass and a fire extinguisher to round off all the 'toys'.
CONDITION SYNOPSIS
The exceptional condition of the panels and paint are what strike you first about this 500SL. We're used to seeing shiny old Benzes, but this one still made us double take. The paintjob is as good as any we've seen. The chrome is almost as worthy, but does show some very light patina here and there, nothing we'd deem in need of 'fixing'. Tyres come in Michelin-branded flavour, with great tread and dated to 2016.
Under the bonnet, the big V8 looks dry and very tidy, there's none of the commonly seen patches of oil mist or signs of coolant leaks. The plastics under here are also superb without even a single crack or scratch to complain about. Sound proofing has also been renewed.
We think brown is an excellent shade for leather and the near-new condition of the hide covering this SL's seats remains supple and striking. The soft-top in the same shade is immaculate and there's also an equally exceptional colour-coded hardtop to accompany the car.
HISTORY FILE
Aside from its sublime condition and rare colour combo, this car's next best trait is its service history. Thankfully the previous owner has categorised it all, as there's a LOT to get through.
Highlights include; service stamps almost every year from new to date and every MOT from 1995 to the present. The majority of the invoices come from Mercedes-Benz dealerships in either Sunningdale, Edgware Road or Cheltenham, with trusted specialist visits in between.

One of the most comprehensive histories we've seen lately and a paintjob that has to be seen to be appreciated are just two of this car's top trumps.
