Our 4th Lupo GTI has now arrived from Japan and is about to be prepared for sale.
This car is a late version that was first registered in 2005. It is unmodified and has covered just under 94000 miles.
As with our previous Lupo GTI's it will be going to Votex (Cheshire's leading VAG specialist) to have all pre sale preparation carried out. This will include full service and new cambelt kit & water pump using genuine VAG parts. New tyres in the correct size (only Toyo make them) will also be fitted. Any other jobs deemed required will also be carried out. The DVLA will allocate a 2005 registration number.
Previously we have imported Lupo's in Silver, Red & Black and we think they're great! Light weight (900kg) with enough power (123 bhp) and a close ratio 6 speed gearbox are all that's needed to have fun in this practical little package that the classic world is increasingly becoming more aware of.
I'm surprised that VW called this car simply just 'GTI' as it was far more than just the usual VW GTI offering of a slightly larger engine with some trim and suspension upgrades. The Lupo GTI was extensively reworked from the base car and featured alloy bonnet, front wings and doors, thinner glass, wider tracks, re-location of the battery to the boot (a completely new boot floor was needed), a twin cam 16v 1600 engine that was unique to the Lupo and its 200 kg heavier Polo GTI cousin along with the 6 speed close ratio 'box. It's also rumored that thinner steel was used in the cars construction..?
