Description

THE MORRIS Six (MS) was launched in 1948 and ran until 1953. The model was phased out in March of that year and this fine old girl was registered in the April, thus making her one of the youngest - if not the youngest - Morris Six in existence. They were are a rare enough car back in the day with 7, 000 of the 12, 000 built being exported. It is believed that there are less than a dozen on the UK roads today!

This lovely 71-year-old Morris has never been welded and is as straight as you could possibly wish to find. Her underside is absolutely amazing for a car of this age, especially one of monocoque construction. She drives beautifully with outstanding oil pressure and feels both tight and powerful on the road with a delightfully crisp column gear change. She is a 4-speed manual. Trimmed in red leather (not vinyl), she is a joy to sit in, let alone get behind the wheel on the open road.

That 2. 2cc straight-6 engine just purrs along and the car has that feeling that makes you think it could take you anywhere you wanted to go with ease. There is plenty of detailed history with this large, luxury Morris which was the sister model to the Wolseley 6/ 80. It would be difficult to find better if this is a model that floats your boat.

My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 71-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. I am not a garage, nor am I a showroom. I do not subject them to rigorous tests and inspections. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. The majority of these ancient motors will need degrees of restoration or re-commissioning. They are not intended to be everyday cars; they are aimed at the enthusiast, the classic car lover and the diy motor mechanic and body man. They are hobby cars; there to be tinkered with and enjoyed. Please accept them as being in their own context as context is all.
