Description
Morris Mini Cooper SThis car isn't £35k+ because it is not a garage queen or a show winner, it is a very useable mini that I drive two or three times a week and it's a lot of fun!It started life as a Cooper S in London, and by the mid eighties found itself on the rally circuit (including the Lombard RAC Rally at some point). It doesn't have the original engine, and most likely is either a very heavily repaired shell or could have been re-shelled - I don't really know. The engine was originally from a1969 Morris 1300GT, bored out to 1293cc with a 12G940 Mk3 Cooper S head. The engine is very strong and has never used a drop of oil or coolant in the time that I have had it! According to the previous owner, it produces around 70bhp at the wheels, which is entirely believable when sat behind the wheel. The 4 speed straight cut gearbox is from it's rally days and is a actually fine for everyday use. All of the electrics work as they should. It has a new RC40 exhaust (downpipe back). The interior is from Newton and is in very good condition. The bodywork is a bit rough, though. The shell is solid but there are rough patches that I have been happy to live with and have simply treated with some rust killer/ converter to preserve it. The worst areas are the n/ s outer sill, and the rear panel - I have made a 'warts & all' walkaround video of the car that I can share with any interested party upon request. There is a folder full of documents, heritage certificate and receipts with the car. I'm selling it because I just fancy a change, maybe something pre-war this time. Note that Mini Cooper S were originally specced with a single tank, the twin tank was an option until 1965/ 66 when it became standard equipment on the Cooper S only.... The Odometer shows 37, 750 miles but of course that should not be considered accurate!!Please call if you have any questions, I will happily try to answer them.
