Up for sale is my dad’s 1988 Mercedes 420se, Has been in his ownership for approximately 4 years but with it not being used so much over the past year it’s time to pass it on for someone else to enjoy.
Has had a lot of mechanical work carried out recently including the following..
* Both cylinder heads removed, stripped, cleaned, new head gaskets, valve stem oil seals, new camshaft oil feed fittings, 4 new valves.
* New timing chain.
* New timing chain guides.
* New timing chain tensioner.
* Crankshaft oil seal.
* Injector seals.
* All new gaskets fitted to front of engine, water pump gasket etc.
* New radiator.
* Recon starter motor.
* New plugs, HT leads, distributor cap, rotor arm.
* New Ignition control (EZL) module.
* New discs, pads, o/ s front brake caliper.
* New top suspension arms.
* New balljoints.
* New control arm balljoints.
* 4 wheel alignment.
All parts coming to a total of approximately £2, 500 and now driving as it should.
Usual superficial rust appearing on the wheel arches, bumpers etc but the underside of the car is in great condition, rear quarter panel dented and small dents/ marks in the paint, looking a bit tired but still cleans up well for it’s age! Interior again not in bad condition for age, needs a good clean and some leather care products to bring it back up to a good standard, seat bolster worn through and small crack on dashboard, can be easily repaired. Wheels and tyres in great condition.
Comes with 8 months MOT and some service history, a great car with lots of potential! Mechanical work done just needs a bit of cosmetic attention to bring it back to life.
