Descrizione
Finished in a very lustrous, deep shade of British Racing Green this 1966 Austin Healey 3000 is a concours winning late MkIII (BJ8 Phase Two) model built on 21st September 1966. The car was well specified from new with wire wheels and overdrive and today remains matching numbers and colours with a Black interior.
This Healey has over 25 concours awards including very notable events such as: winner of the very first International Healey Weekend, winner of Healey International Sportscar Concours, Austin Healey Midlands Centre Concours, Midland Motor Museum Concours, Healey Drivers Club Concours. It is clear to see a real level of pride from the owners over the decades – with photos of them standing proud by this car with trophies and certificates. All gifted trophies and awards remain with the car. The car has been well recognised at events since its 1995 restoration up until more recently where it has been displayed at the 2022 Goodwood Revival and Hampton Court Concours in 2021.
In addition to this the car was featured in Bill Piggotts 2002 ‘Austin Healey – A Celebration of the famous Big Healey’, taking place as the ideal 3000 MkIII. The car is spread across many pages of this book with its quality and accuracy highlighted.
Restoration of this Healey was body off and ‘nut and bolt’ with the car built up properly in stages with every component restored or replaced where required. The engine, gearbox and drivetrain were each full rebuilt to original specification. The car has been regularly serviced since its restoration with a great deal of specialist attention, has been well cared for and crucially never been allowed to sit for too long and as such remains in very good condition throughout. The car has just the lightest dusting of patina but otherwise looks like it could have been restored just a couple of years ago and drives very much like this too.
Sold with MOT, large history file including restoration documentation, concours award trophies, concours award certificates, copy of ‘Austin Healey – A Celebration of the Famous Big Healey’, British Motor Heritage Certificate, Healey tool kit and more.
