1959 MGA 1500 Roadster - NOW RESERVED
Imported from the USA in the mid 1990’s, this fine example of the ever-popular MGA is a late model 1500.
Having resided in a dry state, the body and chassis had suffered no major ills or corrosion and it remained in essentially original condition, having been laid up for many years.
An exacting restoration was embarked upon by a well-regarded specialist, which included conversion to RHD. The car was stripped completely, the chassis checked, painted and floor replaced. The body panels were carefully repaired and very few replacement panels were required. The decision was taken to retain the original MG colour of Glacier Blue - a most pleasing colour used on the earlier MGA models.
All steering, suspension and brake components were overhauled as required and refinished. The wire wheels were replaced with new items and shod with Michelin XZX tyres. The wood rim steering wheel is an original factory option, as is the adjustable steering column.
The engine, gearbox and rear axle were rebuilt and all electrical components and instruments have either been refurbished or replaced. A new wiring harness was, naturally, installed.
Brightwork has been renewed and a luggage rack fitted. The interior trim and weather equipment has all been renewed. Since completion, this MGA has been fastidiously cared for and resided in a dehumidified chamber, being used only in fine weather.
There is a Heritage Trust Certificate on file, which shows the build date as 28th - 30th January 1959. A Workshop Manual, original Driver’s Handbook and numerous invoices and notes are also supplied.
Whilst in the current ownership since 2009, only around 2, 600 miles have been covered.
