Description
I specialise in finding these very rare early Series 2's.
When the Series 2 was launched in April 1958 Land Rover did not have enough of the new 2. 25 petrol engines so continued to make use of the the Series 1 2. 0ltr engines and gearboxes from the previous generation.
They only made 1702 Home Market 88" RHD vehicles of which this is one.
They are seen as the Holy Grail of Series 2's for collectors and rightly sought after and more valuable than the later ones.
This Series 2 chassis number the details below would have been built in approx July 1958 and was registered on 1st October 1958 in Hertfordshire.
I have the original Buff log book which is fascinating and shows it had never strayed far from its roots until I found it and bought it to Berkshire.
I have the up to date V5 Registration document ready to go in the new owners name.
It has been in long term ownership for over 15 years and luckily dry stored.
Lots of correct early features incl dash warning lights, early front valence, wiper motors and early tailgate
The correct 2. 0 engine runs and sounds nice.
It selects all the gears and will drive for loading purposes.
The chassis is particularly good and I cannot see any welding that needs doing.
The bulkhead is solid and has had new footwells many years ago.
It could be got back on the road without too much trouble.
The brakes have been worked on recently and shouldn't need too much fettling.
This will be a very worthwhile project of a rare Land Rover.
