We are delighted to present for sale this Land Rover® Series 2a Ragtop, finished in popular Light Pastel Green colour scheme, with Limestone Wheels.
Externally, there are lots of features one would hope to see – the bonnet mounted spare, vintage number plates, recent canvas, wing top mounted mirrors and rear grabhandles to name a few. A recent canvas and a set of 750 tyres, along with a matching spare on the bonnet complete the look. The bodywork is also of a spray type finish, which is pleasing to note. We think it looks just as it should and “of the period” – hiding what lurks beneath the skin.
On the inside, there are 3 standard front seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells, and door cards to the lower front doors for that premium feel. A heater with front demist is also fitted, which is handy for those cold days. The rear houses a pair of twin bench seats, to give capacity for seven occupants including the driver, along with a load mat to the floor area to protect against scratches and damage.
Out on the road is where this old girl really shines through – the TDI power gives both superior economy and power over standard, whilst giving an experience more akin to a modern vehicle in regard to reliability. The larger 750 tyres mean that you can exploit this extra fire power – allowing the driver to keep with the modern flow of traffic – all whilst enjoying the vintage cool look, but with less drawbacks than the standard set up. This recently reconditioned gearbox gives the new keeper peace of mind that the extra power isn’t going to cause problems to aged components.
In summary, adding the upgraded drive to the MOT & Tax Exemption, along with seven seats, this Series 2a starts to look like a very attractive proposition for those wanting to “have it all” without wanting to move towards a more modern 90/ 11o. If you like the idea of a Series vehicle, but not the idea of the period reliability that comes with it, this is well worth considering.
