The 851 Sport Production 2 represents the closest a street bike could be to a factory race bike at the time. Essentially, it is a Roche replica with lights and treaded tyres! In essence, a very close relative of the 1990 WSB championship winning motorcycle.
While still an 851, the SP2 has an 888cc motor with the same valves, camshafts, polished and lightened crankshaft, Pankl con-rods, polished rockers, oil cooler and dry clutch as the factory race bikes. It has the same suspension, using Öhlins FG9050 42mm USD forks with an Öhlins DU8070 unit in the rear, fully-floating iron Brembo discs, a lightweight aluminium subframe and carbon hugger.
The bike is currently on display in a private collection and will need mild recommissioning.
