A delightful & very original early post war Rover 60 P3. This lady owned car has been well cared for & used for high days & holidays by the current owners well into their 70's who have now decided to part ways with "Eric the Viking" as the car is affectionately known.
The real charm of this car is its condition. The grey leather seats are original to the car & nicely patinated. The large sunroof slides easily open for summer motoring. The black exterior paint is in good original patinated condition.
A large history file comes with the car with bills going back into the 1950's for regular servicing, right up to the present day. The best part is that a factory brand new old stock engine was located for the car in a crate & fitted just 3500 miles ago. It is of the correct type but is of 2 litre displacement giving the car considerably more go then when it left the factory. This is the same engine as appeared in early Landrover series 1's. The car thus starts instantly & pulls really well keeping up with modern traffic on B roads.
This particular car was the subject of a magazine article comparing 5 early post war saloons; a copy of which is in the cars papers. These are well specified cars with full instrumentation to the dash board, copious room for the rear passengers & benefits from such niceties as a quick up/ down drivers window mechanism & large sun roof. The boot is also capacious allowing for a good quantity of luggage.
This is a car that compares well with equivalent Rileys & Jaguar 1. 5 litres of the period. It is in tip top condition having been maintained without regard to expense by the caurrent onwers who drive a Bentley Continental & a Porsche 911 as their more mundane day to day cars. At the asking price it represents lots of fun for the money & is a well sorted example. I would not hesitate to take the Portsmouth Ferry with it & tour though France or Spain in it.
