Owned by the same owner for 70 years who bought the car in 1947 and spent decades attending shows and events, the car comes with a box full of trophies and cups from happy award winning times in many showgrounds. Now you can carry on the fun at entry level classic car money.
A ready to enjoy classic motor, it’s a cute as button and is guaranteed to make you and everyone who sees it smile, lovely old car that oozes charm, starts, runs, drives, stops and turns exactly as it should. We have the current modern logbook, a thick file full of manuals, books, leaflets, service charts and brochures, plus there a workshop manual and parts manual. Starts easily with excellent oil pressure even when warm, 4 speed gearbox with a good clutch, brakes working, with a good handbrake, the oil and water are in the right places and the right colours, no breathing from the oil filler when running (see video). Very solid underneath, no undue play in the wheel bearings, no buckled or wobbly wheels, tyres all ok with no slows or leaks, two look fairly new, two have age cracks. Spare wheel, jack and wrench in the boot.
The original interior has very little wear and no rips or damage, it suggests the 56000 miles on the clock could be right, the seats have that lovely, slightly worn patina that you can’t recreate, the Bakelite dash and door tops add to the art deco appeal and it still has its rear window blind, a very comfy place to travel in.
Dash clocks and gauges working, the trafficators pop out and all the running lights are operating, as is the horn and wiper. Air con, 1940’s style, is operated by winding out the tilting windscreen and it also has a sunroof fitted. All four doors and the boot and bonnet open and click shut as they should, all 4 windows wind down.
The car will be 76 years young and has signs of age and blisters on the paintwork when closely inspected, it will be well received at any event and is perfectly fine to carry on being used as it is for many more years with a “Shabby Chic” or “oily rag” old car look, but an opportunity to improve the car in your custodianship would be to repaint it, we have reflected this in the asking price. Two other short-term owners in the last few years, 3 owners in total.
