Description
This is a very rare first generation Porsche 924, the Le Mans Special Edition of which only 100 RHD's were produced in year 1980, one of only 14 in existence now. And there have only been 2 previous owners before me, with full service records. The odometer degree is 18, 000 miles, I believe it should actually be 118, 000 miles, I have had the odometer replaced with a new one at the specialist and set to read the same as before the service, a problem often experienced with mechanical odometers after over 100, 000 miles. I purchased it from a car collector two years ago and after years of storing it indoors and not driving it, the vehicle was not in good mechanical condition at the time. I went back and forth to three specialist garages and after a five month wait, spent over £12, 000 refurbishing all the mechanical and electrical parts and have all the service records. The fuel injection system, ignition system, oil pan, fuel tank, gearbox, suspension etc were all refurbished.
I only use this car in good weather and have exhibited it at the Silverstone Classic Car Show. It is in great condition, handles straightforwardly, grips exceptionally well and enjoys its driving experience. The car was also featured on the cover of the October 2003 issue of CLASSIC CAR MART magazine and has two letters from the former Porsche UK Chief Engineer.
The car has been successfully registered as a historic vehicle, exempt from MOT and road tax, and has been replaced with black metal plates. The interior of the vehicle is still in completely original condition and has not been refurbished, the paintwork is in need of refinishing and polishing from over 40 years of use and age, but mechanically it is in very good condition and is completely fine. Just last month I went to a specialist to have the car's cold start problem fixed and the engine timing calibrated, a £2300 bill.
I need to refurbish my home as I have just received planning permission and have no choice but to sell this car.
