General information BMW E9
The elegant CS coupés are among the milestones from BMW - not least because of the fantastic silky smooth six-cylinder engine. The cars were built at Karmann between December 1968 and December 1975 under contract to BMW.
The Scuderia Sportiva Colonia has paid special attention to these elegant and technically mature coupés. In our view, these BMW sports cars in particular deserve even more attention. The ravishing shape, the excellent chassis, the very good brakes and the powerful engine were the measure of all things in the early 70s. The interior pampers the owner with luxurious materials, the seats are comfortable with acceptable lateral support and the VDO instruments are a feast for the eyes. A perfect sports car to see and be seen with unmistakable DNA from its very successful touring car history.
The M5 engine, both in the 3. 6 litre and later 3. 8 litre variants, belongs to the engine icon in the 90s.
History of the BMW 3. 0 CS offered here
The BMW E9 offered here was first delivered in the Netherlands. According to the previous owner, an M-engine from a BMW M5 3. 6 litre was installed by BMW Motorsport in the 90s (S38B36). In addition, the matching 5-speed gearbox and the black box were adapted to the conditions of the E9 (for example no ABS). In addition, a front spoiler was mounted and the suspensions and brakes were modified to match the extra power. In the course of this conversion, the entire car was restored and fitted with a light brown leather interior. Baikal metallic is probably the colour of delivery. Since the restoration, this real “Autobahn Express” has been driven about 12, 000 KM. It has won several awards at various BMW exhibitions in the Benelux.
Today, this vehicle is still in first-class condition. The paintwork is immaculate, the chrome has a delicate patina. The leather upholstery is first class, as is the entire interior including the headliner. The suspension and brakes are in perfect working order, the tyres are new on 16" inch Alpina Replica Alus.
The driving performance is brute, simply sensational. The engine doesn't seem to be sealed off, so we think that speeds of far more than 250 km/ h are theoretically possible. However, we have not really tested the top speed.
From our point of view, these E9 models are still undervalued compared to Porsche F-models or Mercedes Pagodas and we therefore expect a good appreciation potential.
