This stunning MG ZB came to us during February and sold after just a few days on our website. We delivered the MG to one of our fantastic long standing clients in Essex who has been buying from us for over 15 years. We recently received an email to ask whether we'd be interested in taking the MG back due to a house move and temporary garage issue, so we jumped at the chance to have this ZB back in Yorkshire, so here it is again.... Prior to its recent sale, this beautifully presented MG ZB Magnette was last sold by us in 2017 to one of our long term regular customers in Hertfordshire. With this owner, this highly desirable Due Tone ZB was enhanced and upgraded with an unleaded, rebuilt 1800cc engine fitted, 5 speed gearbox, MGB clutch, brake servo and newly geared starter motor. The work was all carried out by the MGOC Workshop near Cambridge at a cost of £7, 330. Since the upgrades the MG has covered just 1000 miles, taking the total since the cars full restoration to 6000 miles.
540 DHT was subject of a bare rolling shell restoration in 2006 by Cornwall marque specialists Tamar Valley MG Centre. A photographic record shows the shell fully stripped down with wings, doors and various panels removed, the interior completely removed and engine and gearbox removed. The body was then rebuilt to a very high standard, painted in two tone Green and the complete upholstery re-trimmed to a wonderful standard. The MG was upgraded with brake discs all round, it was mechanically and electrically rebuilt and put back on the road ready for the show scene.
Seventeen years on since restoration and this MG ZB presents incredibly well. The car has nicely aged and still retains a lovely deep paint finish and bright chromework. The upholstery is beautifully presented with high quality leather, lovely carpets and impressive woodwork. The car presents incredibly well, including under the bonnet that offers a nice level of detail. With just 6000 miles since restoration, and 1000 miles since an upgraded engine and gearbox, the ZB is first class mechanically and offers impressive, enhanced performance enabling this lovely car to be used for long distance touring, and regular use. This is a fabulous car, and the recent £7000 plus of expenditure really does make this a very attractive proposition.
