Triumph Stag (Manual) – Concours Winner/ Superb

Designed by Michelotti as a luxury sports car the Stag was enthusiastically received when launched in 1970. The Italian styling, V8 engine/ performance and Triumph brand should have guaranteed success but a rushed implementation led to the car quickly gaining a poor reputation.

Post-production solutions to this lack of development have been identified & applied and today the Stag is recognised as a stylish classic with values rising quickly over recent years.

Our car, finished in the stunning combination of Magenta with bespoke black leather interior, was despatched from the factory on 21st December 1972 to Drabble & Allen (Altrincham). A magazine feature (Triumph World) in the large history file indicates that that car was purchased in 1998 by Paul Booker (Stag Owners Club) who wanted to create the best Magenta Stag possible to replicate cars sold new from his local Triumph Garage back in the early 1970’s.

Bodywork/ paint was entrusted to Keith Hockenhull at Spraybake (body colour underneath) and the bespoke leather interior upholstered by Stewart Epps (Bentley trimmer). The work was carried out over 20 years ago and is still outstanding today – the true test of any quality restoration.

The last two owners have added to the car further with a highly detailed engine bay, wire wheel hubs/ chrome wheels etc and have successfully campaigned her in concours competitions.

On the road the car is an absolute pleasure to drive. Power steering, manual gearbox, servo assisted brakes and the original Triumph V8 provides an utterly addictive soundtrack – there is nothing not to like!

The Triumph has only been sold to make way for a new Milestones classic. We estimate that to replicate the car would cost in excess of £50k - if you could find a nice shell.

I can (and sometimes do) write a long narrative for our Milestone offerings but this Triumph simply speaks for itself. She is stunning.

Ready to be used, enjoyed and if desired win prizes this Stag really does tick every box and needs to be viewed to be appreciated.
