We are pleased to offer this 1972 Triumph Stag Mk1, a particularly interesting example with long-term ownership, documented history and approximately 65, 000 miles from new, including a documented speedometer change with circa 15, 000 miles showing on the new speedo.
This Stag remained with its previous owner for an impressive 36 years. The gentleman was an avid Stag Owners Club member, and we have some lovely and interesting photographs of the car during his long ownership.
The vehicle was originally supplied new on the registration FHJ 27L.
In 1989, it received the registration KAW 68, which remained on the car right through until July 2026. Following the passing of its long-term owner, the cherished registration was removed and the Stag has now returned to its original registration, FHJ 27L.
Full Refurbishment Currently Underway
Moving forward to today, we are carrying out an extensive refurbishment of this very solid Mk1 Stag.
The correct red Mk1 Stag interior has been fully refurbished, including the fitting of new seat foams, and now presents beautifully.
The vehicle is also currently undergoing a complete repaint, which is already underway. Once the paintwork is completed, it will also receive a brand-new red hood, which should look superb alongside the refurbished red interior.
The Stag has covered approximately 65, 000 miles from new, with its history documenting a speedometer change.
The vehicle was MOT tested in June and, as part of our preparation, we will be attending to the advisory items before presenting it for a fresh MOT prior to sale.
Most importantly, this Stag drives beautifully.
It is a very solid example and, once the complete repaint is finished and combined with its fully refurbished red interior, new seat foams and brand-new red hood, it really should look spectacular.
The combination of 36 years with its previous owner, approximately 65, 000 miles, its original registration and the extensive refurbishment now being carried out makes this a particularly appealing Mk1 Stag.

For anyone wishing to secure the car before the refurbishment is finished, we offer a £200 reservation deposit, subject to viewing. This is something many of our customers take advantage of when a vehicle is still going through our preparation process.
