Bought new in November 1952 by a Mr Howman of Wellington near Telford, well serviced and used sparingly until he sadly demised in 1980, the mechanic at the local Wellington main dealers “Pierce & Ercall” (who sold the car new, sticker is still on the dash) then bought the car, he had serviced the car annually for Mr Howman whilst employed at “Pierce & Ercall” and he has owned it ever since, he also lives in Wellington, so the car has never left the same Telford postcode with just two owners from new.
The current now retired mechanic owner has kept a meticulous record of everything he has done whilst owning the car for the last 43 years, he refurbished it between 1980 and 1983 and has enjoyed and maintained it ever since. He has been a member of the Morris Minor Owners Club for 40 years attending shows and rallies with the car and he has kept a comprehensive list of all the service work, shows, events, day trips all with the mileage recorder, there is every single MOT from 1979 in a separate file, mostly with accompanying tax discs from that year. Handbook, workshop manual, parts books, show entry tickets, badges, key rings, brochure’s, invoice after invoice it goes on through three thick files, please ask to see the video, we flick through all the paperwork.
As expected with such cherished care the car is in very good all-round condition, running and driving spot on. It really is a smart looker, please ask to see our video, we show you the car driving, being driven, a walk round and the all-important underside which is just as good as the top side, you won’t believe it, we show you everything, nothing hidden and absolutely nothing to hide.
It starts very easily and runs well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops well (see the video) and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness. No smoke when pushed hard and no signs of any worrying leaks or drips after a run, we have checked the fluids for correct level and contamination, the engine bay like the rest of the car is incredibly tidy.
All the doors, boot lid and bonnet open, click shut and lock, the windows wind down, the quarter light vents twist, the side lights, head lights, interior, horn, wiper, washers, pop out trafficators all work.
The paintwork is very good, odd imperfection will be found on very close inspection, it has a lovely deep shine and its aged nicely. Bright work is all good, not new and slightly aged but all perfectly fine. Running on a matching set of as new tyres including the spare wheel, the jack is in the boot along with a period tool roll, a petrol can and some service spares, plus there is an indoor car cover to keep the dust off and a pair of "1952" show plates.
The interior is very smart, appears to be all original and in brilliant condition. it retains that gorgeous old car smell that’s often lost with new interiors, lovely headlining, very tidy original dash and it still has the supplying dealer’s sticker. Two lap belts have been fitted on the rear seat.
We have the current logbook, it was first registered on 6th November 1952 and is showing just the 2 owners. the clock is showing 65733 miles with every mile for the last 43 years recorded in the history files. Despite being exempt it has still been presented for its annual MOT, the current ticket with no advisories runs until 6th March 2024, road tax is free.
If you want to chat about owning and driving a classic car like this, give me a call. If you’re not familiar the driving style, maintenance, parts supply or anything else I’m happy to run you through owning and enjoying this little gem of a car with you. Yes, it will run on modern petrol and there is an invoice for an unleaded conversion in the history file.
There are loads of Moggy’s to pick from, you will NOT find another with such a detailed history and low ownership as well shown and demonstrated as this one, nothing hidden and nothing to hide, any inspection welcomed, its patiently awaiting its new (third) owner to cherish it and enjoy some motoring adventures.
Draw out of your boring ISA, get out the picnic hamper and go and enjoy your hard earned savings, you still have a car to sell if you want to cash in later and you will be making memories instead of a pittance of interest.
